The Science Behind Nuclear Waste Disposal

ATTENTION: THIS TEMPLATE IS DEPRECATED

May's meetup of The Science Behing Technology is going to be about all things related to nuclear waste disposal.

In order to avoid the harmful consequences that could derive from radioactive waste, it is indispensable to isolate them from human environment. This problem attains each and every country with nuclear programs, which facilitates international collaboration in both technological and scientific planes.

The great challenge for scientist and engineers is to design a solution that should be safe (i.e. isolating nuclear waste from the biosphere) during at least hundred thousands of years. This is why numerical simulation of multi-physics phenomena at geological time scales becomes crucial.

In the 2nd part of the talk, they will link the technical exposition with different views of the politics and dangers of Nuclear energy compared to other sources currently exploit.
